Lordina Training Institute

Clinical neurophysiology records the electrical activity of the nervous system so that clinicians can investigate conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles.

Training covers electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction studies and evoked potentials. You learn how to prepare and position a patient, place electrodes accurately, run a recording, recognise artefact, and produce a technically sound trace that a reporting clinician can rely on.

Teaching begins in our neurophysiology laboratory on campus, where you practise on the same equipment used in clinical settings under the supervision of qualified instructors. You then progress to supervised clinical placement through our partnership with Mikindani Hospital, working with real patients and real referrals.

Graduates typically work in neurology and neurosurgery units, epilepsy and sleep services, and private diagnostic laboratories.

This department covers two settings where continuous monitoring both protects the patient and informs their care: the operating theatre and the sleep laboratory.

In intraoperative neuromonitoring you learn to track nervous-system function while surgery is under way — setting up and running modalities such as somatosensory and motor evoked potentials and EMG, establishing a reliable baseline, and recognising and communicating a change the surgical team needs to hear immediately.

In sleep diagnostics you train in polysomnography: preparing the patient, applying a full montage, recording overnight, and scoring sleep stages and respiratory events to a recognised standard.

Both start with laboratory instruction on campus and continue as supervised clinical placement with Mikindani Hospital — neither skill is learned from a textbook alone.

This department trains the diagnostics that show how the heart and lungs are performing, and the imaging that supports them.

You work through resting and ambulatory electrocardiography (ECG), exercise tolerance testing, echocardiography, and pulmonary function testing including spirometry — learning correct lead placement and probe handling, what a good-quality recording looks like, how to coach a patient through an effort-dependent test, and the common technical faults that make a result unusable.

Imaging training covers safe practice, patient positioning and image quality, and how imaging sits alongside functional results in a complete diagnostic picture.

Instruction starts in our cardiopulmonary and imaging laboratories on campus and continues under supervision at Mikindani Hospital.

Graduates typically work in cardiology and respiratory units, diagnostic centres and outpatient clinics.

Audiology and vestibular science deal with hearing and balance — two systems assessed through precise, patient-dependent testing, and two that shape communication, safety and quality of life at every age.

Training covers pure-tone and speech audiometry, tympanometry and acoustic reflexes, otoacoustic emissions and newborn hearing screening, and vestibular assessment for patients presenting with dizziness or imbalance. You learn calibration and masking, how to test reliably across ages from infants to older adults, and how to record results clearly for the clinician who will act on them.

Campus laboratory work comes first, followed by supervised clinical placement with Mikindani Hospital.

Graduates typically work in ENT and audiology clinics, hearing-aid and screening services, and public-health screening programmes.
